Chelsea Handball started training juniors from September 2016 with the passion to grow awareness of handball which is a friendly and competitive team sport for boys and girls from age 8 onwards. It is a great alternative sports to more popular ball sports in the UK. The dedication and engagement of junior players, coaches and parents have helped the club to register up to 4 teams in 2017 (1 girls team and 3 boys teams) to play in the South East Regional league. Originally based at the Chelsea Academy school in Fulham (London SW10) we moved the training sessions to the German School in Richmond in January 2019 to be able to train more than 40 juniors on a larger and national size handball court. Chelsea Handball Club is an inclusive, family friendly clubs and welcome players from all backgrounds.
This season both the Under 16s and Under 14s boy teams did very well and enjoyed winning most league games due to the players, coaches and players dedication.
Chelsea Handball Club management team is very excited by its mission to make handball more popular in West London. We have started training students at schools after school clubs (Chelsea Academy school, French Lycee in South Kensington, Kensington Aldridge School in North Kensington, Burntwood Girls school in Wandsworth, German School in Richmond). We are looking to train more schools, so please contact us if you know of any school that would be interested to deliver Handball training, This season we have been training juniors at 4 different locations in West London (see Training and locations for more information) and are trying to organise all training in one single convenient location in West London when /where possible.
Chelsea Handball club is also offering juniors and parents the opportunity to develop their mentoring and coaching skills. We are offering options for juniors and their parents to train as junior coaches, referees and score table manning.
Our development plan is to make handball a more popular sport in West London for boys and girls. We plan to register a girl team and 2 to 3 boys team next season (2020-2021).
Your help and support to do so would be more than welcome!
